In the snowy tundra we call the Upper Peninsula of Michigan it’s full blown winter here and people have been singing Christmas songs for weeks! I LOVE Christmas but try to stick with the fall season at least through Thanksgiving!
Adam and Rachel choose to have a “destination” wedding in Copper Harbor Michigan! If you have ever been to the Keweenaw Peninsula you know that it is simply STUNNING in the fall. When Rachel first reached out to me, she talked about their plans to get married mid-week on the shores of Lake Superior surrounded by just their closest family and friends. I loved their vision for their wedding. Simple, intimate and in a place they loved!
Today’s post came to be while I was writing about my time at the Katelyn James Photography workshop last week. As I recapped all the wonderful details of the workshop I started to think back on how I ended up at the workshop in the first place. The more I went through the story I realized there was a message in it that was begging to be shared…
In the Upper Peninsula of Michigan you never know what kind of weather you are going to get in September (or any month for that matter). It could be 90 degrees and stifling hot or 40’s and chilly! Saturday’s wedding brought the latter but boy did it reward us with some brilliant colors!!
You might recognize these two from a few weeks ago! … It was so fun to get to know them better as a couple and give them some practice behind the camera (which they TOTALLY didn’t need) before their big day!
I know its not Tuesday! Sorry friends for the 2 day late blog post. This week has been crazy and with Monday being a holiday, instead of preparing a blog post I was driving home from the lower peninsula. I was so excited to spend my weekend catching up with friends and photographing Brice and Kaila's beautiful day!
I was so happy I was available for Garrett and Claire's big day! They had a short engagement because Garrett is in the service so when she contacted me with only a short amount of time until the wedding I was thankful I still had it open. I've know Claire's sweet sisters for awhile and was so excited to meet the third sister!
I had been "talking" with Caren over email for a few months discussing her wedding day and planning their engagement session. She seemed like such a sweetheart and I couldn't wait to meet her! When she got out of her car at the engagement session I said. "Wait! I know you!"
Happy Fourth Everyone! If you are like me, you are recovering from a fun, sugar filled, and sleep deprived day yesterday!
It may have been crazy of me, but I invited my school age nieces and nephews (8 of them) to camp at the lake with me Tuesday night! I borrowed my brothers big van, a few tents and packed plenty of snacks and sugar for a fun evening and day on the lake!
I'm not much of a writer and honestly don't generally enjoy it. I have many blog posts in line that I should be posting but I am finding it hard to jump back into my normal routine without acknowledging Sunday's tragedy.
I have been looking forward to this wedding for what feels like forever!! Lyndsay and Jim booked me for their Marquette wedding early last year and I was able to meet them at Kal & Nicole's wedding in October. I LOVED spending my Saturday with these two and their fun bridal party and having a chance to catch up with a past Natalie Carolyn bride!
I have been looking forward to meeting and getting these two behind my camera since our first email! Maija is the sweetest thing and I knew I would enjoy getting to know her other half if he was anything like her!
I've decided to start a new series on the blog today called Friday Favorites! Not all things shared in this Friday series will necessarily be photography related but instead big or small things that made me smile and helped to make my week great!
I have LOVED getting to know both of them and was SO happy when I heard they were expecting a little boy! Alyssa contacted me about being there to witness and photograph some of their first moments as a family of 3 and I happily agreed!
The fresh green grass and the warm breeze perfectly complimented the light sage green bridesmaid dresses and the beautiful pink bouquets! Aaron and Helen, thank you so much for letting me photograph your beautiful day and the start of your love story!
I moved into my own tiny home in December and have really enjoyed entertaining. Hosting get togethers with friends, spending quality time with family and planning parties and styled sessions are what I live for during the winter.
